| The
Changing of the Guard Ceremony |
The Changing of the Guard Ceremony, one of Canada's most outstanding
summer attractions, which lasts half an hour daily from late June
until late August, is presented by "ceremonial guards" (members of
the governor-general's Foot Guards and the Canadian Grenadier Guards)
on the lawn of Parliament Hill at 10 a.m. The ceremony includes inspection
of dress and weapons, the Trooping of the Colors and the exchange
of compliments between the old and new guards. It offers an unrivaled
combination of colour, tradition, pageantry and military precision.
After the ceremony, guards execute sentry duties at Rideau Hall. |

The
Residence
|
 |
Located
at 24 Sussex Drive, the residence is a stone mansion that is barely
visible through the densely treed lot. The home was bought by the
government in 1943 and has been the home to Canada's Prime Minister's
since. It is not open to the public, but it really is a nice stopover
on the way to the Governor General's house.

The Casino de Hull,
a world-class gaming establishment, is located just four kilometres
from Parliament Hill. The spectacular setting of the casino, on the
shores of Lake Leamy, is enhanced by a sophisticated decor. The casino's
45 gaming tables and 1,250 slot machines can accommodate 1,600 players
at one time. There is free parking and the Casino de Hull is open
from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m., seven days a week. Access to the gaming areas
is restricted to persons aged 18 years or over, and a dress code is
in effect. |

| The
Casino de Hull, representing a major contribution to tourism and economic
development in the Hull-Ottawa region, is one of the largest projects
in the area since the Canadian Museum of Civilization was built in
1989. Because of the remarkable success of the Casino de Montreal
and Casino de Charlevoix ,the Quebec government plans another casino
in Hull. On July 7, 1994, the project was officially announced by
the government. The Lac Leamy site was chosen for the location of
the Casino de Hull. |

Construction work on the first casino in Quebec began in February
1995, and opened its doors to the public on March 24, 1996. It's really
a remarkable work. |
